The Jeep Compass is an important offroading SUV that provides great value for those who want a bit more of an upscale experience than the usual offroading designs. It has outstanding performance. The engine is a V4 rated for 180 horsepower. The transmission depends on whether you buy front wheel drive or all-wheel drive: the FWD model has a six-speed automatic and the AWD version has a nine-speed automatic. It has plenty of special offroading features, like a terrain mode selection system and the Active Drive Low suite on the Trailhawk trim. That adds on hill descent control, skid plates, tow hooks, an upgraded suspension, and more. All of these make the Compass extremely able as an offroader, and it is highly competitive with the big-name offroading SUVs. It doesn't perform poorly at all when on traditional roads, either.
